Professor Konstantin Buteyko is a Russian doctor who
discovered, while working at the First Medical Institute
in Moscow, that how people breathe affects their health.
His experiments showed that when patients overbreathe,
they develop unpleasant symptoms, but that these disappear
when they are taught how to breathe correctly. At first
there was considerable scepticism, but when he demonstrated
the quick recovery of 200 very sick people his colleagues were
won over. Since then many thousands of Russian patients have been
successfully treated and around 92% no longer need medication.
