How does it work?
Professor Konstantin Buteyko, who has perfected this technique over the last 40 years, discovered that only 1 in 10 people breathe correctly. Traditional wisdom tells us that deep breathing must be good for us as we inhale more oxygen and exhale more carbon dioxide. However, Professor Buteyko observed that asthmatics, people with other breathing disorders or those suffering from panic attacks and stress, breathed much more (overbreathing or hyperventilation) than those who were healthy. This hyperventilation is so ingrained that it is not noticed or taken account of by modern medicine. By correcting breathing patterns, asthmatics and others can lead a completely normal life without relying on drugs.
